Salzburg and surroundings

After we visited Munich we continued our trip to Salzburg. The drive from Munich to Salzburg was just beautiful everything was just picture perfect. When we entered Salzburg we were quite disappointed with what we saw. It wasn't what we had expected. For a moment we wondered why we had driven that long way to see this city. We checked into our hotel and started exploring the area. As soon as we entered "the older part" of Salzburg we were won over. It was beautiful. The pictures can't even capture what we saw.

Every store had one of these beautiful signs hanging outside. It was a very pretty sight.

We walked by the house Mozart was born in.

Elizabeth wanted a drink from this natural water spring in the middle of the city.

The next day we attended church in Salzburg. It was fun to see that a lot of sisters and girls were wearing traditional clothing to church. As you can see Elizabeth fit in perfectly in her (modern) version of the Austrian dress.

About a quarter of a mile away from the church building was this building. Does anyone recognize it????

It was the house were parts of the Sound of Music were filmed. It is the place were the children fell in the water after they were on the boat. It was fun to show this to Elizabeth. We had shown her the movie multiple times in preparation for our trip and she has loved it. She is still singing the songs.

We decided to go on a little drive east of Salzburg to get a feel for the country and surroundings and went to see some of the lake district. We first drove the the city Mondsee.

There we stopped to see the church were Maria got married to Captain Von Trapp. It was a beautiful church.

We let Elizabeth use our small camera to take pictures and this is what she was doing at one point. It was pretty funny to see her take pictures of souvenirs.

St. Gilgen.
