Aruba - Part 1

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama ....
(this is the song that has been running through our heads for the last few weeks)

So last Friday was the day. We left that afternoon and spent the night in Atlanta. We arrived in Aruba Saturday afternoon. Elizabeth was apparently quite tired since she had fallen asleep before we even arrived at baggage claim. And yes it was quite humid but it was bearable. It was quite windy when we got there which was a bit surprise. It is always quite windy in Aruba which is quite nice since it is so hot but in September the winds are normally gone (because of the hurricane season up north). Our taxi driver told us that last week was bad with no winds but that they were back for now - Lucky Us!

Aruba, Jamaica ooo I wanna take you Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama ....

Elizabeth was still sound asleep by the time we got to our taxi and since there was no car seat anyway we let her sleep on the backseat.

This was the view from our hotel room. In the background you can see the ocean. This was the perfect place for our family. We had a living room, full kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

This was the first and last time that I bathed Thomas in the sink. He couldn't keep his hands and feet still. Water equals splashing. I was soaked afterward and so was everything around us.

Some ladies in the lobby were making balloon creations for the children. Elizabeth got these beautiful flowers.

We were planning to attend sacrament meeting in Aruba but had such a hard time figuring out were the church building was. We could not figure it out and none of the addresses we found showed up on the map software so we didn't attend church. When we went out that afternoon we happened to drive by the church.

We drove to the other side of the Island (about a 20 minute drive - the Island is very very small) and this is what we saw all along the shores. Stacked rocks! (man made) It looked really cool.

Opgestapelde stenen! Het was heel interessant om te zien.

Looks much more impressive in person.

I put the top rock on this stack. Just to keep the tradition going.

We went to see a natural bridge. The one referred to on the sign below does not exist anymore. It was a huge natural bridge. It collapsed in 2005 due to errosion. Right next to it is baby bridge (a smaller version) and it was still quite impressive.

An old cool looking building down town.

Een oud gebouw in de stad.

Whenever we talk about you guys on your trip we sing the same song...funny huh? Your pictures are so beautiful. I really love the one of Elizabeth and Bruce in their sunglasses!
